DAVID M. ROBERTS
Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Expertise
David M. Roberts has over 25 years of litigation experience in the field of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. He has represented policyholders in some of the largest coverage actions in the United States, including the Coordinated Asbestos Insurance Coverage Case before Judge Ira A. Brown in the San Francisco Superior Court, San Francisco, California, in the early 1980's. Mr. Roberts' coverage expertise encompasses both domestic and foreign insurers. While a partner of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, he testified on the issues of bad faith and attorneys' fees in one of the largest verdicts (including punitive damages) to be awarded by a jury in the State of California.
Mr. Roberts has been retained both by policyholders and insurers to provide advice and testimony on insurance coverage issues at trial, in mediation, and in an advisory role. He has also lectured and published in the field of insurance coverage, including articles in The National Law Journal, Law Reviews, and Rutter Group publications.
